How do you read 500 posts about Lemon Meringue Pie?

No, seriously, how do I do it?!?!

It's been a few days since the Daring Baker's posted en mass about their pies and tarts, and I've been sloooooooooowly working my way through them. I am using the same method I used last month for the yule log, though I didn't manage to get through all of the blogs that way:

  • Start with the blogs I regularly read.
  • Copy over the entire Daring Baker's Blogroll into a word format and keep track of who I read that way!

Last month I was going through the blogroll starting by the A's, leaving a comment for every blog I read. I was no where near done, though well over 1oo comments made, before I went into virtual sugar shock!

So, any recommendations on how I can get through all the DB posts before the next challenge is due out?

load them all in a feed reader... which is how I am forced to read 500 versions of DB recipe projects. I use Google reader, I can tag it however I want

Hmmm, you are really earning your wings! I read ones that have left comments, my regular or favourite ones and then I pick a letter of the alphabet on the blog roll and work my way through that letter.

I am definitely not earning my wings.

I'm doing a "letter" a day...unless I feel really energized, then I'll do more! All that is after I've done my regular reads and those people who have already commented on mine...I try to comment on those as soon as they comment for me.

I've taken Blair's approach. Everyone's in my feed reader. I've had the 'fortune' of being home sick this week with time to kill, and I'm through the N's. But it takes a while. Going forward, I may use BC's process. By the time I host in October, there may well be over a thousand of us!

Just what I was wondering! I think I shall try Blair's method. I shall use the google reader. Should be able to finish before the next Challenge Post dates!!

I gave up. Now I just read the ones I usually visit regardless of if they are a DB or not. Then I randomly pick a blog from each letter of the alphabet and go there. Also, if they left a comment on my blog, I go to theirs.

I hear you!! I have actually made it through everyone, but it is only because I have a lot of down time at work, and am always looking for something to fill my time. But I have to tell you - by the time I finished, I was so sick of looking at lemon meringue pies. I think I might do what Peabody does from now on out. There are just too many...

I started at A, but then felt sorry for the end of the alphabet and started with z. I felt like I was making good progress until I got to the letter T and then i slowed to a crawl. And now I'm confused because I've been responding to comments left on my blog too.

I only have about a quater of the DB'S in my feeder. I need to update. But I dont stress myself out with it. I just try to at least visit my favorites and those that leave comments. Then I llok over the blogroll and pick some. I know I will never get to everyone.

Wow. That's impressive. I've never made a systematic attempt to read through all the Daring Bakers! I figure I'll find 'em when I find 'em! I like happening upon a blog and seeing a yule log or a lemon meringue pie - it's like discovering a new "friend." :) But good luck with your efforts!

Good for you for trying to get to each one of us.

Don't think there's an easy way of doing it, but I think working through the blogroll is the way to do it. Unfortunately, with late posters, you may end up missing some...

Feed reader seems to be the consensus, and is what I do. Unfortunately I need to update, I'd imagine, as there is a new class of DB's every month. Sigh.

Good luck for trying!

Jenny.. Ivonne and I have finally cried uncle. There is just no way to get through this growing blogroll and still keep a job and maybe spend a minute or two with your kids and spouse. hee!

We have finally decided that all we can do is read our regulars and then randomly hit as many as we can.. but not all of them anymore.

Kind of sad, but it's the price you pay when you've got so many lovely people becoming DB'ers.

So don't stress about hitting them all, sweetie. :)

I'm too busy giggling here to offer good advice! :):) You summed up the problem perfectly. Wait! Have yourself cloned! Yeah--that's it!

i can see how tough that can be! i just joined the DB this month, just checking out everyone else’s blogs, and am trying to make my way around to say hello :) probably won't make it around to everyone, but at least a decent number....

This is a great topic, thanks for starting it. I tried to keep up with everyone through my feed reader, then decided I just couldn't anymore, it was too much with the kids and all. I severely trimmed back my feed reader and I only get to visit other blogs about once a week now due to commitments. So my plan for each month is to visit all my regulars first, then start with the letter of the alphabet for the month's host and hop around from there. I wish I had time to visit them all, but it's just not possible anymore with our large numbers.
