Me. Tyler. Deep frying.
See?
A trend.
I decided one day to make Tyler's Tempura Green Beans with Chili, Garlic and Seasame Aioli.
But I couldn't let it go with just green beans, which were great, btw.
So I doubled the tempura...
And made tempura carrots.
Then sweet potatoes. (Oh my these were so good!)
Then I made Talapia fingers, which the kids inhaled. I didn't even get to try this.
But the scallops were so good. Even cold the next day.
And the shrimp.... What a combination, me, Tyler, a deep fryer, and shrimp. Oh boy, oh boy, it was soooo good.
You can find the recipe for this in Tyler's book, Stirring the Pot, on page 146.
Aside from the obvious change, the only other one I made was to reduce the sesame oil in the aioli, part from choice, part from necessity. I didn't have 1/4 cup of oil left, only about a tablespoon, and knew from past experience that I would not enjoy that much seasame oil in the aioli, I find it a bit too strong.
This is my selection for this week's Tyler Florence Fridays.
TFF: I see a trend happening here

I love tempura everything. You have to try bananas next!!!! I want to head to the kitchen and try cherries and blueberries, but I don't have enough oil (thank goodness!). Great photos.
Oh my, this sounds so wonderful! There is a very good reason we don't have a deep fryer. I think I would deep fry everything! Thanks for your commnet about my quinoa. Yes, I thought it was pretty funny that I was running out of mainstay supplies left and right but had quinoa of all things.
That's it - I'm moving in. All those delicious vegetables deep fried? Count me in.
Holy cow...they all look awesome!
Wow ! I can see why you couldn't stop !! It must have been wonderful !
See, I'm afraid the same thing would happen. I would end up frying everything in sight!
Sounds like a fun dinner : ) All kinds of delicious fried goodies!! I love it : ) I have been wanting to bUY a deep fryer and you are certainly giving me a good reasoN!!
Those look sooo good! I love tempura sweet potatoes and eat all of them from the veg mix when we order tempura veg mix at the sushi place. Won't start frying at home or I'll never stop and my heart doctor will have fits.
this is a good trend. love tempura.
Now this could make a deep fat fryer worth while! Great job Jenny.

I am coming over for dinner! ;-) Everything looks wonderful-tempura batter is the best.
Yay for deep frying with Tyler! Looks fantastic. I am with you, if I am going to deep fry, I am adding everything!
